Beijing awaits for NC science, engineering students in 2016

The North Carolina International Science Challenge (NCISC) is a competition that takes place yearly for high school students who are interested in science.

Students selected travel to Beijing, China to discuss their research with scientists and engineers at the Beijing Youth Science Creation Competition (BYSCC) in March. The competition is a place for students to present their projects as well as talk with students from other countries and experience different cultures.

Students must select a research project, create an abstract and present their findings to a panel at the BYSCC. Because the expectations of the competition are similar to those in graduation requirements, students are encouraged to combine the two. Projects should be focused around science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and the SMT Center annually partner to hold NCISC.

More information about applications and previous winners can be found on our website.

After the NCISC students are expected to attend a few N.C. science functions and display their projects. An example is the yearly SMT Center statewide science celebration, which is ususally scheduled in April.
