Each year, NC State selects students and incoming freshman to be Goodnight Scholars. The scholarship program, funded by Dr. Jim and Ann Goodnight, helps students from middle-class families earn a degree in a STEM subject. While more students graduating in 2020 will join the group throughout the years, there will be 50 students from across North Carolina starting as scholars their freshman year.
“We are excited to announce our ninth class of Goodnight Scholars,” director of the program Allison Medlin said. “They are a truly exceptional group, representing 29 North Carolina counties and 21 different STEM and education majors. Their academic and personal accomplishments while in high school were remarkable, and we can’t wait to see what they do at NC State.”
