Manley Midgett has served as a science educator in many roles in North Carolina but it is his efforts as a volunteer supporting science education that earned him the title of “champion.”
For the past 20 years, Manley has been a director of the North Carolina Science Olympiad. His efforts have been instrumental in developing the program so that it is nationally recognized for the number of students it involves and the high standard it has set for student performance. Mr. Manley’s efforts have allowed countless students to become excited about science.
He is currently responsible for coordinating and facilitating professional development in the area of science at the North Carolina Teacher Academy.
