Introducing 2017 NC International Science Challenge Student Arjun Keshava
Hello, my name is Arjun Keshava and I am a senior at Wake Early College of Health and Sciences. I have conducted scientific research for the past three years and am looking forward to continuing my research again this summer. I have researched different topics, such as Structure Activity Relationship of chemical structures and their effects of mutagenicity and carcinogenicity, zinc pollution and its effects on bronchial epithelial cells, and DNA methylation status in smokers and non-smokers. I absolutely adore science as it is the future. In addition to science, I enjoy playing football and Ultimate Frisbee, as well as scuba diving whenever I get the chance. In school, I served as the Science Olympiad President and also serve as North Carolina’s 41st State President – which help inspired me to pursue healthcare. I plan on attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My dream career is to work at the Department of Veterans Affairs as a General Physician. I am grateful for the opportunity that NCISC has provided me with and plan to take full advantage of this trip.
In China, I am really looking forward to meeting students and professors from all across the globe. I hope to educate people about my project and in turn, learn a lot form them. I am also looking forward to trying all the culturally diverse food I can get my hands on.
