STEM in Aerospace and Aeronautics
The Flight Fellows Program enabled 24 N.C. public school teachers to work side by side with researchers in university or business/industry labs to strengthen their leadership and deepen their understanding of STEM. The SMT Center, the Kenan Fellows Program for Curriculum and Leadership Development and NASA supported teachers during year-long fellowships that included a five-week research externship and two weeks of professional development. From this experience, Fellows brought real-world relevance to the classroom. Fellows developed curriculum that is inquiry-centered and integrates STEM and technology. The Flight Fellows continue to share the curriculum they developed at local, state and national conferences and meetings. Kenan Fellows Program Lesson Plans are available here.
