Alfred Childers Receives Champion Award for STEM Education
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Entrepreneur Dr. Alfred Childers has received the 2017 Champion Award from the N.C. Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education (SMT) Center. Mr. Childers will be recognized on April 29 in Raleigh, N.C. at the annual SMT Celebration.
This award recognizes outstanding contributions to STEM education in North Carolina.
“We are pleased to recognize Dr. Childers for his long-time commitment to STEM education,” said Dr. Sam Houston, president and CEO of the SMT Center. “He is committed to helping young people better engage and become enthusiastic about STEM.”
Dr. Childers has contributed time, talent, leadership and financial commitment to STEM education in North Carolina. Through his work with Magellan Science, FIRST North Carolina, the North Carolina Science Festival and Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, Mr. Childers is the embodiment of a STEM champion.
